Art 1 Syllabus

Course Description:

In the Art course students apply  skills to address art applications.  Students will be drawing, painting and learning other art skills using diverse types of media.  

 

Supplies: 

 ART SUPPLY LIST

Materials needed for class: This will be for the first semester only.

  • #2 pencils - 12pk

  • 1- ruler (6 inch would be better if you can find one)

  • 1- mixed media  pad for drawing/watercolor/acrylic 

  • 1- Glue bottle (preferably clear)

  • 1- Masking Tape***

  • 1- kleenex box***

  • 4 Felt sheets different colors   

  • Ziplock bags gallon size***

  • Paper plates***

  • White or pink pack of erasers 

  • 1 Apron ( This will come in handy when you are using pastels, watercolors and especially when using acrylic paint since it’s difficult to get stains off of clothes).

Place supplies in a gallon Ziploc baggie; label your supplies with your

name & class period.

 

Grades:

Both written assignments and hands-on projects will be throughout the school year. Participation in daily bell work, class discussions, sketches, and tests will be used as a form of collecting daily grades. All art projects will be used as a form of collecting test grades, as well. 

*Students will not fail the class for not being “good at art”. Students will only fail if there is little to zero effort in their assignments. Everyone is capable of creating art. 

Deadlines/Duties: Be responsible by keeping track of deadlines and due dates. REMEMBER: Little to Zero effort will result in a failing grade. 

*Ex) Little Effort: Waiting until the last minute to complete a project & then turning in rushed messy work

Zero Effort: Not turning in any work. 

 

Clean Up: Last 5-10 minutes of class. 

  • Each student is responsible for cleaning up the area around their desk.

  • Jobs will be assigned. 

 

 

Classroom Expectations:

Be Respectful: Use appropriate language. Be respectful and wait for your turn.

Be Orderly: Follow directions. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.

Be Accountable: Be ready to learn. Always have required materials.

Be Responsible: Be on time. Complete all assignments.
